Private James Albert Sherrill of the 12th North Carolina Infantry at 17. He turned 19 years old in August 1862 but was killed in action at Fox’s Gap on South Mountain on 14 September. His picture here is from Clark’s Histories of the Several Regiments and Battalions from North Carolina in the Great War, 1861-1865 (1901).
