This extraordinary photograph is from Tim Smith, formerly in the Tom Liljenquist collection, now in the Library of Congress. It is of Lieutenant Robert T. Willis, 32nd Virginia Infantry, who was mortally wounded and captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862 and died of wounds on 3 October in Jefferson, VA.
