Corp Thomas Taylor

This lovely full standing half-plate ambrotype of Corporal Thomas Taylor is in the collection of the Virginia Museum of History and Culture, Richmond. He was Sergeant of Company K, 8th Louisiana Infantry when he was severely wounded in the knee at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862 and captured on the field. He was exchanged in May 1863 and detailed to work at the CS Treasury Department in Montgomery, AL, still only able to walk with crutches.
