From Tippah County, Private William Lafayette Luna enlisted in the 2nd Mississippi Infantry in May 1861. He was wounded at First Manassas in July 1861, at Sharpsburg in September 1862, and at Gettysburg in July 1863. He was captured there and his lower arm was amputated. He was furloughed home in September 1863 and did not return.
