Captain Merrill T Castleberry, 21st Georgia Infantry was terribly wounded at Sharpsburg, by a gunshot that entered his mouth and went out the back of his head. He was not expected to survive, but did.
His beautiful 1890 stone, pictured here, is notable for its handcut and slightly uneven Roman letters.
