Pvt Joseph B Stimson

Private Joseph Brandon Stimson had a rocky military career.

He enlisted in Company G of the 27th Indiana Infantry in September 1861 and was stabbed by a bayonet at Cedar Mountain (August 1862), shot at Antietam (September), shot in the head and trampled by the Colonel’s horse at Chancellorsville (May 1863), and thrown from a horse while General Ruger’s orderly in September 1864.

He survived all that and lived to be 74.

His photograph is from Steven Russell’s online Roster.
