Town of Clover (1981)

This historical marker in Clover, SC notes the first post office in town was established in 1874 by Zimri Carroll. It’s pictured online in the Historical Marker Database, thanks to Michael Sean Nix.

Zimri Carrol was a Private in Company D of the 6th South Carolina Infantry when he was wounded at Sharpsburg in September 1862. He survived the war and returned to farming in York County. In 1871 he moved to the new town of Clover and had a general store there.
