Edmund Randolph Brown wrote the regimental history The Twenty-Seventh Indiana Volunteer Infantry in the War of the Rebellion (1899). His photograph is from grandson E.R. Brown as printed in Wilbur D. Jones’ Giants in the Cornfield: the 27th Indiana Infantry (1997).
Then-17 year old Private Brown was wounded in the belly at Antietam on 17 September 1862, detached as clerk at Tullahoma, TN from November 1863 to August 1864, and mustered out with his Company in October 1864.
