Doctor Cole and his sulky

Private Orson Clark Cole, Company C, 106th Pennsylvania Infantry was wounded at Antietam in September 1862. Afterward he appointed a Hospital Steward, USA, and was with the 7th Regiment, US Colored Troops to November 1866.
He graduated from medical school in November 1870 and practiced medicine in Union Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania until shortly before his death in 1897.
This post-war photograph of Dr. Cole in his sulky (horse cart) was posted online by Joyce Tice from a copy published in the Souvenir: 1862-1962 Roaring Branch Centennial of 4 July 1962, compiled by T. Edwin Smith. His wartime image, inset, is from a photograph in the MOLLUS Massachusetts Collection, U.S. Army Center of Military History.
